Annual General Conference

Introduction

2023 Recap

December 30th

Location
Panlap-Makeni, Sierra Leone

On December 30th, 2023, the town of Makeni came alive as Young Voices of Africa hosted its very first Annual General Conference. The day radiated joy, unity, and a powerful sense of purpose, as over 500 people attended from near and far. Attendees included members of the Muslim and Christian communities, the Women’s Committee, the Paramount Chief and his elders, community leaders, local police officers, national musicians, local comedians, and a vibrant youth presence.

From the early hours of the morning, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy. Our Sierra Leone Leaders of Ambassadors and dedicated volunteers prepared food and set the stage for a seamless and meaningful day. The event blended cultural pride, lively entertainment, and deep conversations on youth development and leadership. Even those who couldn't attend in person followed along through our Facebook Live broadcast, making this not just a local event but a continental moment of connection and celebration.

Why It Matters

Why It Matters

Each year, the Young Voices of Africa Annual General Conference serves as a vital checkpoint in our movement for youth-led transformation. It is a space where young people are seen, heard, and empowered to lead meaningful change. Through stories, music, dialogue, and collaboration, we showcase that African youth are not the leaders of tomorrow; they are already shaping the future today. The conference helps preserve culture, promote inclusive education, and drive sustainable development across communities. It is a call for every voice, young and old, to join the mission of building a better, more unified Africa.
